Wurz seals second Le Mans win

I have just read an article on "austiantimes.at"
It talks about Alexander Wurz.
Basically what it says is that the driver has claimed his second Le Mans 24 hr race title.
In 1996 Wurz was the youngest driver of all the time at the age of 22 years, when he won the event.
Yesterday he said that this two victories are the best moments of his carreer.
It is also mentioned that he had been hoping to head the new Superfund team in next year’s Formula One series. But the Austrian company had its application rejected by motorsport’s governing body the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) last week.

As for me, I don't think that Alexander Wurz will head the new Superfund team in next year's Formula One series.

Press Review European Parliament Election

I have just read an article on "austriantimes.at".
I thought you might be interested because I think everyone in austria want's to know much about this.
It talks about the European Parliament election. Basically what it says is that the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) only won five mandates with 23,9 %, 10 % less than in 2004. The "election-winner" was the People's Party (ÖVP) with six mandates and 29,7 %.
Hans-Peter Martin came third with 17,9 %. Right-wing Freedom Party won two mandates with 13,1 % and the Greens only won one mandate. The Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZÖ), the Austrian Communist Part KPÖ and the Young Liberals (JuLi) failed to enter the European Parliament.
Only 42,4 % voted, which is not very much.
What surprised me most was the fact that so many people voted Hans-Peter Martin . I never thought that this is such a "popular" Party.

As for me, I voted too, but I won't tell which Party, because this should be a secret.

Pröll defends government’s assistance programme

I have just read an article on „austriantimes.at“.
It talkes about the Finance Minister Josef Pröll (ÖVP)
He said yesterday evening that they have done the right things to avoid the worst outcome.

It is also mentioned that he added that the financial crisis had been "unique".

Basically what it says is that the ÖVP and Social Democrats (SPÖ) have offered state aid to all Austrian banks and the country’s largest finance houses, such as BAWAG, Bank Austria and Erste Bank have taken up the offer in the last few months.
He added that firms would have to stand on their own two feet again after the end of the crisis.
I disagree with Mr. Pröll's opinion. He says that politics have to play a stronger role during sucha a crise. I think that politics often make things worst than they still are.

Red Bull sales soar after German cocaine beer

I have just read an article on "austriantimes.at".

It talks aboud "Red Bull".

Basically what it says is that the energie-drink has rocketed after authorities in five German provinces banned it after finding traces of cocaine in the drink.

It is also mentioned that "Red Bull Cola" lost its statues as a foodstuff and became subject to the German Narcotics Act.

A narcotic act is a sort of drug.

But there is no danger of becoming addicted to the drink.

On the one hand I think that the ennergie-drink tasts really good, but on the other hand it consists of a lot of coffein.

On the whole I won't stop buying this drink.

Press Review Framework

Today I read an article from myblogpanholzer about "St. Patrick's Day". I think it is very interesting. And there are a lot of informations about the day, how it is celebrated and about the person Patrick.

I have just read an article, which talkes about dress codes and school uniforms. The best article I read was from mybloginreiter, because there are some good arguments about it.
On the one hand I think dress codes are good for students to save money and reduce stress but on the other hand dress codes force people to do what they don't wont. I support dress codes but I am against school uniforms.

St. Patrick's Day

Who was St. Patrick?

St. Patrick was born in Great Britain in 387.
He was one of the patron saints of Ireland and when he was sixteen years old, he was captured by Irish raiders.

How is St. Patrick´s Day celebrated?

Everybody wears green clothes and a lot of rivers are dyed green too, for example Chicago River. And people eat green food and drink green beer.
"The wearing of the green" means to wear a shamrock on one's clothing, because Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish.
A shamrock is a three-leaved plant and the Holy Trinity is a group of three persons.
In Great Britain, the Queen Mother used to present bowls of shamrock over from Ireland to members of the Irish Guards.
People there draw shamrocks on their T-shirts or on their faces.
There are a lot of fireworks on that day.

Where is St. Patrick´s day celebrated?

This day is celebrated in Ireland and it became a public holiday in 1903.
It is also celebrated in Canada, Great Britain, Austalia and New Zealand, but there it is not an official holiday. Other Saint Patrick's Day parades take place around the country including in London where the largest minority community is Irish.

Dress codes!

In Austria we usually don’t have dress codes or uniforms.
Students are allowed to wear whatever they want to.
They spend a lot of money on expensive fashion outfits.
If you have old-fashion clothes you are nobody, because clothes say who you are.

I think this is a real problem for children, who can’t afford this luxury.
So they make themselves ridiculous.
That’s often the reason for getting criminal. They steal money to buy fashion-clothes, which the other kids wear. Now they are included.

In every school there are a few girls, who think they have the dress sense!
They wear outfits in school, which look like their partywear.
For example they wear a halter which shows the neckline and the whole navel.
In this case, schools are right to set some standards.

If everybody wears the same uniform, this would be no longer a problem for future.
But there are so many kids, who are against school uniforms, because they think they wouldn’t fell like themselves without their own style.

One the one hand dress codes are good for helping students to save money and to reduce stress in school, but one the other hand dress codes force people to do what they don’t want to do and so they ban an important means of expressing themselves.

In the whole I support dress codes, but I am against school uniforms, because I think that this would be too strict.
