Christmas is a time of little time.

How we get there is a mystery.
Racing madly mall-to-mall, we climb
into fields of sunlit harmony.
Shopping, cooking, clearing walks and yards,
trimming house and tree while working, too;
Making phone calls, wrapping, writing cards,
as all worn out we do what we must do
so that this day of joy might joy renew.

Book report about the book "Go ask Alice"

I'm preparing a book report about the book "Go ask Alice".

This book hasn't got a author, because it is a diary.

In this posting I would like to give you a little preview what the book is about. I hope you will get interested and read it.

I think it is dead good.

Publisher information:

The book was published in the United Kingdom in 1972 by Eyre Methuen.

This edition first published in 1991 by Mandarin Paperbacks, reprinted 10 times.

Subject & setting: (time and place)

25 moth in the life of Alice, a fifteen year old girl, the settin gis San Fransicso 1966.

Main Characters:

Alice, a fifteen year old girl, who went to middle-class and she was doing very well at school.

She had a lot of great plans for her future.

At school the children ignored her and she felt very lonely.

And because of that she started taking drugs and this is the beginning of a very difficult part in her life.

She wanted to stop it, but she couldn't.

Events:

The girl hadn't any real friend or people who liked her.

She only had the diary, it was her only friend.

She wrote everything in it.

Ideas:

It shows the awful pressures which plague even the 15-year-old who needs all her energies to cope with growing; the isolation of one who wanders off the track and alone, finds it impossible to fight her way back.

Comment:

In my mind "Go ask Alice" is a very true story, because it shows the life from teenagers with usual problems.

It is an extraordinary document of horrifying reality.

My community-Ried in der Riedmark

Hi, my name is Lisa Wahlmüller and I am 15 years old.

Now I want to show you my community Ried in der Riedmark.

Ried in the Riedmark is a market town in district Perg.
It has got 4100 inhabitants.
The district court is Mauthausen.
Ried is on 306 m height in Mühlviertel.
There is also a river in Ried, which is called “Riederbach”.

There is for example a church, two banks, the municipality, a post office, a landfill and two castles.
One of the two castles is called castle Grünau.
In that castle there are a lot of festivals and parties. You can rent it for a weekend.

We have got a kindergarten, a public school and a middle school.
The middle school is a special school, because it is a sort of a computer school and it also has a pool.
We also have some supermarkets and a car business, a hairdresser and several bakers.

There are a lot of farmers and a few flats with playgrounds.
There are also two resident doctors and five voluntary fire brigades in the whole community.
If you want to leave Ried you can go by bus, or you can call a taxi, which comes from Mauthausen or Perg to pick you up.

If I were a politician in my community I would organize to build a shopping mall, a cinema, cafes and some places to going out for younger people, because that’s the things I miss in my community.
