I have just read an article on "austriantimes.at".
I thought you might be interested because I think everyone in austria want's to know much about this.
It talks about the European Parliament election. Basically what it says is that the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) only won five mandates with 23,9 %, 10 % less than in 2004. The "election-winner" was the People's Party (ÖVP) with six mandates and 29,7 %.
Hans-Peter Martin came third with 17,9 %. Right-wing Freedom Party won two mandates with 13,1 % and the Greens only won one mandate. The Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZÖ), the Austrian Communist Part KPÖ and the Young Liberals (JuLi) failed to enter the European Parliament.
Only 42,4 % voted, which is not very much.
What surprised me most was the fact that so many people voted Hans-Peter Martin . I never thought that this is such a "popular" Party.
As for me, I voted too, but I won't tell which Party, because this should be a secret.
